Over the past 16 years we have successfully delivered various employment support contracts for
Local Enterprise Companies and Jobcentre Plus. Without doubt our initial success and self sustainability would not
have been achieved without the assistance of MI Technologies Ltd.
Working with this group of people, particularly in the early days, proved to be a very dynamic and fast
reacting process of developing employment training solutions for the long term unemployed. We therefore thank Gerry Belton,
Stuart Leitch and Sam Hannah for their past input.
Through pragmatic and professional programme delivery we have managed to achieve fantastic results for our
clients. In addition to assisting our clients, we have also delivered valuable community projects.
Our community projects have operated within Motherwell, Paisley and Glasgow.
These projects have included Safety in the Community, Fifty Plus Health, Keep Warm This Winter, History
Booklet etc. These projects were supported with the production of video films and various publications.
We are currently contracted to deliver the New Deal 'Into Work Glasgow' Voluntary Sector Option and Environmental
Task Force Option. This is delivered in association with the Wisegroup.
Throughout the years we have recognised the value in the feel good factor of helping others. With this in
mind, we ensured that all trainees were given recognition for participating in their community projects or work
experience placements. In addition to this, they received support in job search activities.
This in turn increased their self confidence and a large percentage of our client group were
able to move into jobs.
In addition to delivering local community projects, we have placed our clients into jobs via our USA
exchange programme. Working with homeless children from the Bronx and Harlem neighbourhoods of New York, our
clients returned to Scotland with fresh ideas and ready to work in the caring field. All exchange clients have been very
successful in their chosen careers.
When we started in 1991, unemployment in Scotland was extremely high. Since then there has been
a significant reduction. We have therefore adapted and changed the delivery of our programme. Our target client
group is mainly people living in Social Inclusion Partnership areas.
During the period 2003 - 2004, we carried out a pilot programme delivering New Deal 'Tailored Pathways'
in Warehousing & Distribution. Our experience of delivering this provision was significant in delivering Job Outcomes
for our clients.
With this in mind, we have opened a 25,000sq ft Training Centre with 5,000sq ft of office/ training
room accommodation. The Woodville Training Centre is conveniently located near
Ibrox underground. The Training Centre has been accredited by RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board) for the delivery
of Certificated Fork Lift Training courses. In January 2007 we were successfull in being SQA Accredited.
In March 2006, we launched the Osprey Holiday and Conference Centre Millport, Isle of Cumbrae.
We have reopened the centre to provide holiday accommodation for various organisations and groups. To date the centre
has been a successful holiday and respite destination for hundreds of youngsters and adults from various scottish voluntary
organisations. We also offer the centre to family groups. The centre is ideal for groups requiring self
catering accommodation.
